Jeremy Kamiya (Kamiya Furniture) is a furniture designer and maker known for creating solid-wood furniture pieces without the use of nails, screws or stains. Mr. Kamiya specializes in custom and limited edition work. A central theme in a Kamiya Furniture piece is the expression of unity: Be that the marriage of sustainable materials, or the union of the natural world and the designed environment. Mr. Kamiya doesn’t use metal fasteners in his work because he wants his pieces to be held together by fit, and not by force. He emphasizes an honest approach in his treatment of materials as well, never using wood stains; emphasizing a reverence for the natural characteristics of each board he hand selects. Kamiya Furniture’s work has been recognized on multiple occasions by the International Society of Furniture Designers, the Home Furnishings Hall of Fame, and editorialized in print with House Beautiful, Luxe, Business of Home and Interior Design Magazine.
