After an inspirational trip to San Miguel, Mexico, Worlds Away started out as an import company that revitalized the painted tole look that was so popular in the 1980s. Within a few years the company began to push its design boundaries with additions in handcrafted lighting and hand painted metal furniture. Worlds Away introduced its first piece of mirrored case good furniture, the Cary dresser, which was such a resounding success that many more mirrored pieces soon followed. A resurgence of the Hollywood Regency style, as well as Mid-Century modern design, inspired Worlds Away to create more transitional pieces that could relate to today’s interiors and still hint at the past.
Worlds Away is best known for a distinctive mix including mirrored pieces, statement lighting, occasional furniture, and unique accessories. The collection incorporates rich textiles, colored lacquer, lucite, grass cloth, and more to put a modern twist on seamless style.
Worlds Away continues to strive for a timeless look in all its pieces after over twenty five years in business.
