Zafferano America was established in 2019 by long-time friends Federico de Majo and Barrett Gross. The pair first met in the 1980’s while working for their respective family businesses. For nearly 40 years, they have partnered in selling Italian-designed lighting and glassware in North America. De Majo is a noted Venetian glass designer and entrepreneur who launched the Zafferano glassware brand in 2001. Lighting products were soon added, and with the introduction of the flagship Poldina Pro table lamp in 2018 Zafferano was among the first companies in the world to offer a high-quality battery-powered cordless lamp. The emergence of the Pina Pro table lamp in NYC as a favorite for outdoor dining in 2020 firmly established Zafferano as the global leader in this category. The Poldina Pro and Pina Pro have since become two of the best-selling designs in the history of lighting, each having sold millions of units.
