Bohemian History Meets Innovation

Beacon Custom Lighting brings the history of glass blowing to High Point Market.

Off the beaten path is sometimes where you find the greatest gems, and Beacon Lighting is certainly the case. Tucked away from the Market center on English Road you’ll find COHAB space, an old warehouse turned maker showroom. It is a collective of artisans showing all kinds of wares for the home industry. Sitting at the back is the white gallery space where Beacon Custom Lighting displays its amazing glass and crystal lighting fixtures.

The story begins long before their entrance to High Point. Arriving from the Black Forest of the Czech Republic, they bring a time-honored tradition of glassmaking and an aesthetic that merges this rich history with designs of today.

Bohemia. The word conjures notions of artistic freedom and unbridled creativity and home. The factory has operated for the last 130 years in this region of the Czech mountains, and at the time of its founding, Bohemia already had a glass making tradition that stretched back for centuries. Originally focused on utility, the artisans began to realize that glass could be manipulated as far as the mind could dream.

With nature as muse, the first chandeliers echoed icicles, flora, and rock crystals. Subsequently, they gain inspiration from the world around and from their collaborators.

Honoring their Bohemian legacy and moving tradition forward is in the DNA of Beacon Custom Lighting. They believe light enhances life and they love what they do.

No matter the shape or concept, each piece entrusted to their artisans is bench-made with intention from premium materials such as crystal, brass, and alabaster.

From the metal foundry to their design studio, they produce almost everything in house, from the parts of each fixture, to cast and finished metalwork, and to the design and formation of glass into an unlimited array of shapes and sizes. Each Beacon creation is a combination of handcraft and 3D software. Whether making one piece or fifty, they are in control and on top of each project from concept to completion.
