Products & Trends Editor’s Spotlight: Better Homes & Gardens Senior Home Design Editor Katy Kiick Condon gets in touch with the tactile side of style The real story of High Point Market is that texture reigns supreme. Cerused, charred, or aged finishes put wood grains on center stage. Beds were piled high with tufted quilts and thick knits, and the comparatively flat kilim trend seems to have officially shifted to the nubby pile of hooked rugs. I had to touch everything I wandered by. Wandering is my primary strategy for exploring the trade show – I like to think that’s how I stumble onto my next favorite thing. I’m already wondering what they’ll come up with next Market. Bel Air Accent Chair by Badgley Mischka Home I love how the faceted frame counters this chair’s deep seat cushion. And while shagreen leathers have been making the rounds, the fabric version at Badgley Mischka Home feels a bit more approachable. Badgley Mischka Home Rifle Paper’s Les Fleurs Rugs for Loloi The huge scale of the flowers on Rifle Paper’s new line of rugs for Loloi felt refreshingly modern for a floral print. The negative space allowed on the Floral Vines design felt especially new. Rifle Paper for Loloi Burl Wallpaper by Thibaut A great mix of visual textures at play here: The burl whorls are organic and dynamic, but the straight lines of the individual veneer sheets keep it from going rustic. The surfaces on these wallpapers from Thibaut almost shimmer. Thibaut Utopia Wallpaper in Jungle Bloom by Tempaper Tempaper lends their peel-and-stick technology to a fabric paper mural that prints to custom sizes. It’s designed to be panoramic, so it’s way past the accent wall trend, and offers an opportunity to fully wrap a space in the tranquil jungle scene. Utopia Wallpaper for Tempaper Catherine Lisle’s Galileo series for Zoe Bios Creative As the name suggests, the gilt circles whirling across Lisle’s works put the heavenly night sky into the mind of the viewer, but the stitched together, hand-dyed fabric canvases give her work–showcased by Zoe Bios Creative - a dose of earthy tactility.
