Liza Hathaway Matthews is a contemporary abstract artist who lives in Baltimore, Maryland. Radiating a contrast of luminous color, graceful form, and texture, her paintings are inspired from nature, design, and pattern. Harmony and movement are evident in her work. Liza’s mediums of choice include acrylic, oil, ink and charcoal. Liza’s 2019 Spring line introduced her latest ‘Leatherettes’ created with ink and paint on leather. Her pieces are unique and created with a personal inspiration that is evident in her multi-dimensional works.
Liza holds a BFA in Painting and Interior Design from Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) and has studied plein air and still life with members of the Shuler School Faculty. Her work has been featured in popular publications such as House Beautiful, domino, Luxe Magazine, Art Galleries & Artists of the South, Baltimore Style Magazine, and Baltimore Fishbowl. Liza is represented by Liza Pruitt Collective, The Art Registry Group, Robin & Robbins Art Consultants, G. Grace Gallery, Bozzuto Greene Art, District Arts, Anne Irwin Fine Art and Oriet’s Fine Art.
In addition to her paintings, Liza’s creative abilities extend into textiles such as pillows, lamp shades, wallpaper and fabric. She is currently collaborating with Anthropologie, Cotton & Quill, Piper Collection and Lema J Designs to create various products such as; wallpaper, fabric, pillows, paper goods, tableware and leather cuffs.
