Editor’s Spotlight: Modern Luxury Interiors

Editor-in-chief Phebe Wahl shares swoon-worthy standouts from Fall Market

The most brilliant minds in design flock to High Point Market, a charming little corner of the world, to scour showrooms for fresh inspiration and the perfect thing to add punch to their projects. The fall season did not disappoint.

Swoon-worthy standouts shared a deep authenticity. Although the aesthetic may range from the refined and quiet forms of the Thomas Pheasant for Baker collection to the cheeky cheerfulness of the Justina Blakeney for Selamat collaboration – my favorite pieces all share an individual intention and celebrate a defined sense of self.

The Shape Shifter

Thomas Pheasant’s new collection for Baker was inspired by Richard Serra and Ellsworth Kelly. I love his angular riff on the club chair, the Diamond Lounge Chair.

Simply Brilliant

Everything Aerin Lauder touches is incredibly elegant and this lamp from the AERIN lighting collection shown at Visual Comfort & Co. would work well in any living room.

Ode To Joy

Amid functional fabrics and flooring options, the wit and whimsy of Justina Blakeney’s collection for Selamat was a smile-inducing surprise. I see her Jani Counter stools cozied up to a pool house bar or kitchen for the perfect splash of cool.

A Shore Thing

Barclay Butera’s new collection for Lexington Home Brands has two lines: one inspired by Newport and one by Brentwood. His nailhead-studded Lido Island Chest looks equally rad surfside or inland.

Branching Out

The moody metals of Barry Dixon’s collection for Arteriors are always a favorite. His Locust Thorn chandelier inspired by a branch he found on his farm sets the perfect subversive yet serene tone.
